Gold Coast Chamber Players supports the Black Lives Matter movement and all cultural diversity, and we have spent time evaluating our own role in creating a diverse community for our patrons and chamber musicians.
First, we commit to continue to explore the diverse history of chamber music in our programming. We believe in telling the story of chamber music through the lens of all cultures and races by highlighting composers of different backgrounds.
Second, we commit to providing an opportunity for artists of color to share the experiences of their race and culture through chamber music.
And finally, we commit to target our educational programs to diverse communities in order to give students of color the opportunity to access high quality musical performances.
The Black Lives Matter movement is not something that is meant to be touched on once and then forgotten. Gold Coast Chamber Players is prepared to focus on these goals and commitments throughout our 2020-21 season and beyond. We hope our efforts will add to the ongoing discussion of race and cultural differences in our community.
