Kai Christiansen

Kai Christiansen is a musicologist specializing in classical chamber music. Based in San Francisco, Mr. Christiansen writes and lectures throughout the Bay Area, working regularly with such organizations as Music at Kohl Mansion, Chamber Music Monterey Bay, San Jose Chamber Music Society, Gold Coast Chamber Players, Noe Valley Chamber Music, Music in May, the Silicon Valley Chamber Music Festival, and San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music. Under the aegis of resident musicologist at Music at Kohl Mansion, Mr. Christiansen also works with Susan Bates and her Young Chamber Musicians organization, providing historical and aesthetic context for the works performed by the student ensembles. Leveraging a multi-decade career in software engineering, technical training, and writing, Mr. Christiansen is the founder of earsense.org, an extensive online chamber music “exploratorium”, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, featuring one of the world’s most comprehensive chamber music repertoire databases.
