An Important Announcement from GCCP.jpg

November 17, 2022

Dear Gold Coast Chamber Players patrons,

For 35 years I have had the pleasure and privilege of sharing my passion for chamber music with you. I am so grateful to the amazing musicians who have performed on Gold Coast and to you in the community who have supported us by attending the concerts and with your generous donations. I am proud that our series has maintained the intimate atmosphere that defined us in our early years when we played in private homes and at the Garratt Mansion in Alameda.

It is with mixed emotions that I let you know that this will be my final season with Gold Coast. After the next three concerts this season I am leaving my position as Artistic Director. My next chapter will include developing special projects with social impact and Arts Consulting. Last season’s special project, Cultural Crossroads (exploring the Black and Indigenous influences on DvoÅ™ák in America), was particularly impactful and I will be offering this project to other communities nationwide. Additionally, I plan to develop new projects that will be presented in Lafayette and beyond. I am energized by this next step and excited to see where my creativity takes me.

The most difficult part of making this decision is knowing I won’t be seeing you as regularly. Every concert is made meaningful to me by your presence and has filled me with a tremendous sense of satisfaction and connection to the community. You have been an integral part of what makes Gold Coast special. Thank you for being part of my life and for the many years we've enjoyed music together.

Pamela Freund-Striplen

Artistic Director, Gold Coast Chamber Players

A message from the Gold Coast Chamber Players Board of Directors

The Gold Coast Board of Directors wishes to thank Pamela for her dedication and efforts to bring beautiful music to our community. While the Board and our Operations Director, Alicia Gholami, have played an integral role in presenting the concert series, Pamela is the driving force of the Gold Coast Chamber Players. In light of her decision to leave as Artistic Director of the Gold Coast Chamber Players at the end of our current season, the Board of Directors has concluded that it is not feasible to continue presenting a concert series. Thanks to the strong support of our many patrons over the past 23 years, Gold Coast has the financial reserves necessary to complete our current season without the need for additional fundraising.  Therefore, no further Gold Coast fundraising efforts will be undertaken.

The Board of Directors has very much enjoyed our years supporting Pamela in her endeavors and in getting to know so many of you.  It has been a wonderful musical run for the past 23 years in Lafayette and the Board thanks you for your many years of support of the Gold Coast Chamber Players!
